HOLD ON: Are you sure? Your DREAM HOME is also a GREEN HOME?

The propensity to urbanize India for providing homes is on full swing. The reality sector is on upswing. The result is more and more Indian cities are turning into a concrete jungle abandoning the green covers and cutting down trees without re plantation. Blind following of this pattern will lead to energy crisis.
As the Lucknow has also joined the bandwagon, there are numerous big wigs present, offering homes under different segments.  There are thousands of property sites in Lucknow up for grab. But before buying the property, you can ensure your responsibility towards environment and buy a home which is a green one. How to identify a green home:

·         Energy efficient windows and doors
·         Digital thermostats
·         Low plumbing fixtures
·         Low-energy lightening systems
·         Rain water harvesting system
·         Tank less water heaters, etc.
·         Solar Panels on Building Facade

The buyers are also advised to check for air leaks around windows and doors, quiz about heating and cooling systems, to protect it against heat and weather.
Those who are conscious of their responsibility towards environment can ask to produce the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from their developers, to ascertain project’s ‘green’ credentials. It is a rating system created by the US Green Building Council.

The basic criteria of the Green buildings are to limit the consumption and destruction of natural resources as it’s our responsibility to keep the planet green and alive for our generations to come. Whenever a building is constructed as per green standards; the land is checked for soil erosion, topography and vegetation, and heat island effect. Energy efficiency during construction is achieved by employing CFC-free equipment, solar water heating, tapping on-site renewable energy sources, and energy metering. The indoor environment improves through measures such as ample provision for day-lighting and fresh air ventilation, using low-volatile organic compound (VOC) materials, and good exhaust system.

There are the some important aspects to know beforehand to know what to look out for - to ascertain the fact - whether or not your money is going to a developer who equivocates your concerns towards building green buildings. “What may seem a larger investment in the beginning will reward you with significant savings in the years to come along with peace and happiness”.
